two birds, one stone

For the adventurers and aspiring networkers— today, I'm here to tell you how a simple message on LinkedIn unfolded into an unexpected weekend of fun in the rainy city of Seattle. This one is about seizing opportunities and turning a meet-up into a weekend full of exploration.

It started with a virtual connection—yours truly reaching out to Mr. Fred Rivera, the Executive Vice President and General Counsel for the Seattle Mariners, on LinkedIn. After some exchange of messages, the stars aligned, and we set up a meeting in Seattle. And let me tell you, I didn't let this opportunity slip away—I turned it into a full-blown weekend escapade.

The meet-up with Mr. Rivera, initially a networking rendezvous, quickly transcended into a fusion of insightful conversations about sports, law, and the dynamic spirit of Seattle.

But why stop at just a meeting? I decided to embrace the spontaneity of the moment and turn this trip into an opportunity to explore some of the best Seattle had to offer. From the bustling Pike Place Market to the top of the Space Needle, the city bustled with life.

Picture this: the electric buzz and aroma of freshly brewed coffee in the air become the staple of every morning. You start your morning with a steaming cup of Pike Place Chowder, a local haunt famed for its creamy seafood goodness. Then, dive into the intricate world of coffee at the Starbucks Reserve Roastery, where each bite of the affogato makes you question why we don’t always have coffee this way. For outdoor enthusiasts, REI's flagship store is a mecca, offering not just gear but a gateway to thrilling adventures. And to top it off, step into the surreal oasis of Amazon's Spheres, a melding of nature and innovation within the city. These spots aren't just destinations; they're a celebration of Seattle's diversity, bridging tradition with forward-thinking creativity. From indulging in culinary wonders to exploring innovative spaces, Seattle's magic lies in this vibrant blend of experiences.

This trip was more than just a meet-up; it was a testament to the magic of spontaneity and the joy of embracing opportunities that unfold unexpectedly. Unfortunately the timing of the meeting was during baseball’s offseason which meant no visit to the T-Mobile park (though I was fortunate enough to have been during a previous trip up to Seattle) and the Los Angeles Rams happened to be hosting the Seattle Seahawks at SoFi Stadium that weekend, but we can’t have it ALL, can we?

Stay tuned for more tales of seizing moments, exploring new cities, and turning chance encounters into unforgettable adventures.
